Spicy Black Bean & Red Chili Hummus with Blue Cheese Crumbles

YIELD: 2 cups


  • 1 can black beans (15 oz.), rinsed and drained
  • 3 tablespoons smoked blue cheese, crumbled
  • 1 tbsp. fermented black beans, rinsed, drained and chopped
  • 1 large garlic clove, sliced
  • 1 red chili pepper (fresh or dried), chopped
  • 1/2 c. chopped cilantro leaves
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • 1 tbsp. freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tsp. sesame oil


Place black beans, smoked blue cheese, fermented black beans, garlic, red chili pepper, cilantro and salt in food processor bowl; pulse until blended. With the food processor running, pour in lime juice, olive oil and sesame oil; process until smooth. Serve with toasted bread and raw vegetables.
